Cars in German Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police State

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were contacted by a resident who found a car in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then located many other marked cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report early analysis suggest the liquid was probably human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they added.

Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for tips.

A senior political figure stated the attack made him without words and required to be addressed promptly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
